I consider myself a foodie
A food love letter to Sydney.
I was brought up by a family of foodies, in between London and an organic farm on an island where we picked the vegetables from our garden and my parents were part of the slow food movement. In London we often ate out and I grew to love both the food and conversations which I had around the dinner table or at the restaurant, the variety of flavours and cuisines I tried and the wine I was able to imbibe.
I have subsequently thoroughly enjoyed dinner dates with clients and lovers. Trying the culinary art which is available in Sydney, where the food produce is so diverse and delicious. I have been able to tick off many restaurants from the list of places I most wanted to devour food. Last month I was taken to Momofuko Seibo, a Creole fusion restaurant which I have wanted to sample for years and it was the best meal of my life with some wonderful conversation had in between smashing plantain in my mortar and pestle.
This has led me to want to create a most desired restaurant list:
Sokyo (I adore Japanese food, it is my all time favourite)
Firedoor (everything there is made with flames and without electricity, even boiling the water for your tea)
Automata (I love a degustation meal and their instagram game is wildly good)
Restaurant Hubert (I love Jazz (and used to play the saxophone) so this den of deliciousness sounds divine)
Restaurants which I have greatly enjoyed and would love to return to:
Aria (the views are divine and their vegan and vegetarian menu are scrumptious)
Nomad (delicious, I enjoyed a pre theatre meal and wanted to order many more courses)
Quay (best views in Sydney with a divine tasting menu)
Cafe Sydney (again amazing views, varied menu (in which everything I tried was delicious)
Bridge room (beautifully presented Australian fusion, I was taken for my birthday meal and was not disappointed)
Sepia (what to say about Sepia, this truly was the best culinary art I have ever seen, whether it was smashing up their perfectly cylindrical ball desert of the layering of the food, simply divine)
Sake (I prefer the Melbourne one as it's quieter)
Bennelong (who does not want to eat inside the Sydney Opera House? Delicious food, great lunch spot and great view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge)
Rockpool (which I wouldn’t return to knowing that they underpay their staff)
Momofuko Seibo (best meal of my life, attentive staff, wonderful presentation, divine flavours, they even gave me more chilli to eat with my food)
Tetsuyas (classic delicious Japanese and you get to eat gold leaf for desert)
I adore Japanese, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese and most Asian cuisine so if you think that I should add some restaurants to this list please do leave a comment on this post. I also enjoy cheap and cheerful and mid range food, whether that be a late night meal in Chat Thai after a spa treatment or some theatre or going to Newtown to go to Thai Potong followed by a movie or a date, I enjoy food and company, be that high end or street food as long as it is delicious. I will be updating this blog as I eat through these listings.
I will write a blog on each city I have travel to and write testimonials of my culinary adventures
